On Saturday, February 8th, 2025, the Scenic Acres Community Association opened the doors of the Bowness Senior Centre to ring in the Lunar New Year with a splendid celebration. More than 60 enthusiastic guests gathered to share in the festive spirit, as the scent of delectable cuisine and sounds of laughter filled the air. 

Guests enjoyed some delicious food from New Dynasty Restuarant served in buffet style. The spread included an array of classic Chinese dishes, such as fried rice, ginger-fried shredded chicken, and satay beef chow mein, a delightful assortment of desserts and much more. 

But the event was about more than just food; it was a cultural immersion. Guests embraced the opportunity to learn the intricate game of mahjong, a beloved pastime rich with tradition. Additionally, the creative spirit flourished as guests crafted beautiful paper lanterns, adding a personal touch to the festive atmosphere. Guests also had the chance to win fantastic door prizes, adding an extra layer of thrill and anticipation to the event. 

The highlight of the afternoon was the mesmerizing Lion Dance performance by World Pak Mei Hup Ging Do Martial Arts. The vibrant display of color, skill, and energy captured everyone’s attention, bringing smiles and cheers from the audience.
