It’s been a long time coming, but we will finally have a new Schooner Playground this Fall! We are excited to be creating a safer, more enjoyable, and more inclusive play space for children of all ages and abilities. We are also proud to have selected Alberta-based businesses for both our playground supplier and manufacturer.
Many thanks to YOU, our Scenic Acres friends and neighbours, for your support of our fundraising efforts! Your generous contributions to the SACA Stampede Breakfast 50/50 Draw, the “Party at the Park” on Neighbour Day (complete with fire trucks, face-painting, glitter tattoos, sports games, petting zoo, and even the CBC Ice Cream Truck), and Bottle Drive really helped us get to our goal. Special thanks go out to the following project supporters:
- Honourable Sandra Jansen, former MLA for Calgary–North West
- Spy Hill Dental Clinic
- The McFarland Family
- ConocoPhillips Canada
- Scenic Acres Dental Centre
- Calgary Parks Foundation
- The City of Calgary
- The Government of Alberta
- The Government of Canada
- The Scenic Acres Community Association
We’re also thankful for those who had signed up to volunteer for the playground installation. Due to our success in applying for and receiving multiple grants, we have enough funds to cover a professional installation by our playground supplier. So we can actually just sit back, relax, and watch our playground go up (from a safe distance of course). The installation period is set for the week of September 27, 2020. Prior to that, City of Calgary crews will be fencing off the area, dismantling and removing the existing equipment, and doing other preparation work. Signs will be posted at the playground with the schedule as it is confirmed.
We appreciate your understanding on the temporary increase in traffic and noise during the demolition and installation process. And now, without further ado…..here’s what you can expect when we’re done!
