President, Jim Palmer: Jim held a variety of senior corporate and operations business and finance manager positions over a 34 year career with Shell Canada. He recruited, coached and mentored people for 30 years and led many business process improvement, control, reporting and governance initiatives. Jim has served the SACA Board for over 12 years in director capacities of Transportation, Vice President and President. Jim has also held executive positions for sports, church and YMCA boards in Calgary and Fort McMurray. Beyond Scenic Acres, Jim contributes as member to the Rocky Ridge Conservative Board, City of Calgary Subdivision & Appeal Board and his church board. He has been married to Sandy for 33 years and they have three adult children. They have lived in Scenic Ares since 1993.

Vice President, Linda Miller: Linda joined the SACA Board in January 2016. Linda retired from the Calgary Board of Education in 2014. She specialized in teaching Mathematics and still continues to tutor junior and senior high students. Linda served on the Crowchild Skating Club board in Scenic Acres for 9 years in a variety of positions including President. She held a variety of Executive and committee positions on church boards, parent councils and a business club in Calgary and/or Mississauga. These experiences have provided perspectives in communication, leadership and governance which she brings to her role with the SACA. Linda and her husband Stephen have 2 adult children. They have lived in Scenic Acres since 1994.

Secretary, Larissa Roszell: Larissa has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Economics. Larissa worked in Oil and Gas Accounting for about 7 years until starting a family. Larissa and her husband Neil have three children and have been in Calgary for 20 years, all of them as residents of Scenic Acres.

Treasurer, Rebecca Li: Rebecca joined the SACA Board as Treasurer in July 2015. She is currently the Controller of a small oil and gas company. She has over ten years accounting and finance experience in a diversified industries, including utilities, oil and gas, services and public accounting. Rebecca obtained her MBA from University of Calgary and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She has significant experience in planning, financial modeling and reporting including budget preparation, variance analysis, forecasting and preparation of financial statements. She also has prior volunteering experience as Treasurer with University of Calgary Family Housing Association. Rebecca has lived in Scenic Acres since 2009 and has a teenage daughter. She enjoys contributing her expertise to the community she lives in and loves.

Director, Community Development, Lee De Korte: Lee and his family moved from Ottawa two years ago and have been living in Scenic Acres for a year. They really like the neighbourhood. Lee and Marian have four grown children, with their youngest daughter living at home. Lee is an electrical engineer working for General Dynamics on a program for the Canadian Land Forces. Most of his career has been in computing and telecommunications. Since moving Lee has started to explore and get a feel for the Calgary and the nearby mountains. Lee believes in knowing what is going on around us; community involvement is a practical way to do that. He was a director with his community association in Ottawa. Lee’s interests are broad ranging, from the natural environment to city planning and governing. Lee hopes to make a contribution to this community and get to know more residents over time.

Director, Facilities, Colin Yeo: Colin joined the SACA Board in March 2016. Colin is a retired geologist, having worked in the petroleum industry for 40 years. He is currently the Past President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and was the President of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists in 2007. Based on this experience, he brings strategic, communication and governance insights to the Board. Colin is currently a volunteer on the Development Committee and continues to serve on the Franco-Sud School Committee. He is the President of the BP Alumni Club and an outreach ambassador for the CSPG. Colin and his wife Maryann have two children, and two grandchildren. They have lived in Scenic Acres for the past five years but were in Silver Spring for the prior 26 years.

Director, Marketing and Communications, Chantelle Sonnleitner: Chantelle joined the SACA Board in March 2016. Chantelle brings to the Marketing and Communications Director role her experience in marketing and communications, event management, writing, editing, social media, website content, and public and volunteer engagement gained in previous roles with the University of Calgary, Alberta Ballet and The Galt Museum & Archives. Prior to that Chantelle worked for the City of Calgary for four years as an Archivist. Chantelle’s family moved to Scenic Acres three years ago. Chantelle and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors with their two young children.

Director, Parks & Environment Ike Zacharopoulos: Ike led the initiative to mobilize the community to fund a special tax used fully to maintain and enhance community green spaces. He now leads the LEAF subcommittee who manages this annual maintenance program. Ike has extensive experience with property and employee legislation and has handled case work for various companies over a long career. Ike and his wife Julie have two grown children and have lived in Scenic Acres for many years.

Director, Crowchild Hockey Association Rep, Mike Kelm: Mike has been a member of the Scenic Acres Community Association Community Board for the last year. As a Calgary Police Service member, he feels a strong commitment to service especially within this great community. Mike has a passion for hockey and the outdoors, a trait shared by his wife Karen and their three children. It was his involvement in coaching and managing within the Crowchild Association that brought him to his position with the SACA. He works diligently on both boards to ensure the families in Scenic Acres are best served by their community hockey program.

Non-Board Member General Manager, Ruth Sorrentino: In addition to being the SACA’s General Manager Ruth is a Provincial Returning Officer and Federal Assistant Returning Officer when Elections are called. She also sits on the Attendance Board where she helps mediate solutions for students who struggle to attend school on a regular basis. Ruth has been the Editor of the Scenic Review for almost 11 years. Prior to working for SACA Ruth was a stay at home Mum for 8 years who volunteered for SACA as a Director, as well as at Events. When not working Ruth is a Hockey, Soccer and Football Mum but also enjoys reading, camping, volunteering and staying active. Ruth has been living in Scenic Acres with her family for 11 years.
