President, Jim Palmer: Jim held a variety of senior corporate and operations business and finance manager positions over a 34 year career with Shell Canada. He recruited, coached and mentored people for 30 years and led many business process improvement, control, reporting and governance initiatives. Jim has served on the SACA Board for over 13 years in director capacities of Transportation, Vice President and President as well as on a number of committees. Jim has also held executive positions for sports, church and YMCA boards in Calgary and Fort McMurray. Currently beyond Scenic Acres, Jim is President of the Rocky Ridge Conservative Board, panel member of City of Calgary Subdivision & Appeal Board and Treasurer of his church board. He has been married to Sandy for 34 years and have 3 adult children. They have lived in Scenic Ares since 1993.

Secretary, Suzanne T. Greco: Suzanne, born in Quebec spent many years living across Canada, landing in Scenic Acres in 1997. She has volunteered on various school councils, Block Parent Associations, organizing school fundraisers, as ice manager for Slave Lake’s twin arenas, managed her children’s hockey teams and participated in Slave Lake’s Community Affairs. She and her husband started Slave Lake’s first girl’s hockey team.  In Calgary, Suzanne returned to work full time as a legal assistant and upon completion of her B.A. in HR, changed careers to become an HR professional.  Due to the recession, she found herself retired. Suzanne is happy to join SACA and use her corporate legal skills and experience to act as Secretary for this wonderful community.  Suzanne and Paul have been married for 35 years and have 2 adult children.

Treasurer, Katherine Hawkins: Katherine, joined the board in March 2018.  She was born and raised in Toronto then moved to Winnipeg for the first part of her career.  Moving to Calgary in 2000 she started her own small business accounting practice.  Katherine brings a great deal of experience with process implementations, report writing and experience within the non-profit sector.  She has also volunteered over the years with various organizations within the corporate world and with her children’s clubs and schools.   Katherine has two children that keep her very busy running to activities and when she has time she enjoys traveling the world.  She is looking forward to her position on our board and giving back to the community.  She has been a resident of Scenic Acres since August 2016.

Director, Community Development, Colin Yeo: Colin joined the SACA Board in March 2016. Colin is a retired geologist, having worked in the petroleum industry for 40 years. He is currently the Past President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and was the President of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists in 2007. Based on this experience, he brings strategic, communication and governance insights to the Board. Colin is currently a volunteer on the Development Committee and continues to serve on the Franco-Sud School Committee. He is the President of the BP Alumni Club and an outreach ambassador for the CSPG. Colin and his wife Maryann have 2 children, and 2 grandchildren. They have lived in Scenic Acres for the past six years but were in Silver Springs for the prior 26 years.

Director, Community Affiliates, Dean Petrillo: Dean was born in Calgary and first moved to Scenic Acres in 1994 with his parents while attending St Francis High School. He has 3 kids in which 2 are going to Monsignor Doyle School. He was an HR Manager for 12 years at Lux Windows and Glass Ltd handling Safety, HR and Benefits for over 150 employees and has been coaching indoor and outdoor soccer for the community from U4 to U12. Dean currently works as a real estate agent with First Place realty.  Dean is excited to join the Board and give back as much as he can to this community that has given so much to him and he looks forward to the challenge.

Director, Community Facilities, Mike Fursier: Mike joined the Board as Facilities Director in April 2018. Born and raised in the UK, Mike has over 20 years experience in construction and project management roles in the UK, Middle East and Canada. Mike now uses his engineering degree and management experience running the Calgary branch of a Canadian specialist construction dispute resolution and project management business. Mike led the team building and maintenance of the SACA outdoor ice rink for the last two years and is looking forward to making a more regular fixture in the community. After renting in Scenic Acres for 3 years, Mike and his wife, Amanda, recently bought their first Canadian house and are relishing putting down some permanent roots! Mike and Amanda have been married for 12 years and have two children.

Director, Membership Development, Michael Chui: Michael has over 10 years experience in I.T. , economics, and finance with last 4 years as a Finance Manager for a continental transportation company. Michael helped numerous sports organizations transition from operation to governance boards over last 10 years. He also spent last 14 years as technical official in the sport of triathlon and represented Canada and Alberta in the 2015 Pan American Games (in Toronto) and 2017 Canada Summer Games (in Winnipeg), respectively. Michael and his mother moved to Scenic Acres in 2016 and are looking forward to helping you experience all SACA has to offer.

Director, Parks & Environment, Ike Zacharopoulos: Ike led the initiative to mobilize the community to fund a special tax used fully to maintain and enhance community green spaces. He now leads the LEAF subcommittee who manages this annual maintenance program. Ike has extensive experience with property and employee legislation and has handled case work for various companies over a long career. Ike and his wife Julie have 2 grown children and have lived in Scenic Acres for many years.

Director, Sports Affiliates & Acting Secretary, Keely Willment: Keely has recently joined the board as a Director. In her day job she works for the City of Calgary in the Recreation department, coordinating programs, initiatives, and events. Keely has previously served on the board of directors for Alberta’s InMotion Network – the provincial organization charged with promoting physical activity for girls and women in Alberta. She has also dedicated a significant amount of time supporting the women’s rugby program at the University of Calgary. A born and raised Calgarian, Keely moved to Scenic Acres in 2015 with her husband and 2 small children.

General Manager, Ruth Sorrentino: In addition to being the SACA’s General Manager Ruth is a Provincial Returning Officer and Federal Field Liaison Officer overseeing all the Returning Officers in Edmonton and Central Alberta. She also sits on the Alberta Attendance Board where she helps mediate solutions for students who struggle to attend school on a regular basis. Ruth has been the Editor of the Scenic Review for almost 12 years. Prior to working for SACA Ruth was a stay at home Mum for 8 years who volunteered for SACA as a Director, as well as at Events. When not working, Ruth is a Hockey, Soccer and Football Mum but also enjoys reading, camping, volunteering and staying active. Ruth has been living in Scenic Acres with her family for 12 years.
